WASHINGTON –– One month following the release of the Policy Agenda to Advance Black Work, Wages, and Wealth, the Black Economic Alliance (BEA) Foundation has garnered widespread acclaim from leaders across sectors for its innovative approach to driving Black economic prosperity. This policy roadmap, crafted with input from both research experts and the lived experiences of Black Americans, lays out actionable steps aimed at dismantling systemic barriers and fostering economic growth.
The Agenda is already having meaningful impact and is moving from roadmap to reality.
Last week, a joint House and Senate Resolution was introduced by Congressional Black Caucus Chair Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-04) and Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-CA) that was “…grounded in the BEA Foundation’s Policy Agenda to Advance Black Work, Wages, and Wealth.”
Praise from other leaders and the foremost policy experts underscores the agenda’s potential to make substantial strides in affordable housing, entrepreneurship, jobs and workforce development, tax reform, and voting rights—key areas identified by BEA as critical to achieving economic equity and prosperity for all.
HERE IS WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:
“The BEA policy agenda is exceptional: at once achievable in the near term and bold enough to impact the future. The mix of process changes, regulatory reforms and new programs would remove barriers to wealth, wages and work for Black families and businesses while also expanding the middle class across the board. Policymakers should heed this agenda.”
– Heather C. McGhee, Author and Advocate
“Establishing well-defined, evidence-based objectives for economic improvement is essential during times when the cacophony of politics overshadows reliable information sources. I praise and urge individuals who are focused on enhancing Black economic mobility and well-being to delve into the Black Economic Alliance Foundation’s Policy Agenda to Advance Black Work, Wages, and Wealth. This agenda furnishes vital information and sets clear targets aimed squarely at uplifting the Black community.”
– Andre M. Perry, Senior Fellow, the Brookings Institution
“The Institute on Race, Power and Political Economy is proud to support this suite of data-driven policies that will lead to tangible outcomes for Black Americans. The Policy Agenda to Advance Black Work, Wages, and Wealth is both grounded in research and the lived experiences of the Black community. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Black Economic Alliance Foundation to realize our collective vision of building an equitable society where Black Americans prosper.”
– Darrick Hamilton, University Professor, Henry Cohen Professor of Economics and Urban Policy and Founding Director Institute on Race, Power and Political Economy, The New School
BEA collaborated with and relied on research from key partners to develop the agenda – here’s what those leaders said previously about its release:
“The Urban Institute was proud to support BEA Foundation with analysis of a wide range of policies as they built their agenda to advance Black work, wages, and wealth. Our unique partnership with BEA is designed to help them to identify and advance evidence-based solutions grounded in the latest insights into the lived experience of the Black community.”
– Sarah Rosen Wartell, President of the Urban Institute
“The BEA Foundation’s forward-leaning agenda aligns closely with the National Urban League and our historic focus on economic empowerment and justice. We are energized to work together with passion and purpose to further this agenda in the public and private sectors.”
– Marc Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League
